What a year 2020 has been for small businesses. The trials and triumphs we've all been through. There's no doubt the holiday season will look and feel a bit different this year, but that's all the more reason to take every opportunity you can to promote your business.
Enter the American Express' Small Business Saturday initiative. Small Business Saturday traditionally falls on the Saturday immediately following Thanksgiving, which this year makes it Saturday, November 28th.
American Express' website is already launched, you can check to see if your small business is listed in their online database and if not, register your qualifying business right here.
Probably the most helpful part of their website is the automatic generation of free marketing materials to entice customers to support you on Small Business Saturday (see our example graphic above). At this link you'll find a quickie little survey (business name, type of business, and location if applicable) and the website whips up a simple little graphic for you. It's available in multiple sizes so it's sized appropriately for social posts, Instagram stories, flyers, banners for your store, etc. The graphics are yours to use, only pay if you wish to print any of the flyers for your brick and mortar.
A nice addition this year is the page dedicated to supporting black-owned businesses, with it's own unique search registry to find only those small businesses that are black-owned. You can find it here.
It's not too early to start promoting your business for Small Business Saturday, don't forget the marketing rule of thumb: it takes an average of 7 interactions with your brand before a purchase may take place. So promote away and happy Small Business Saturday!
